Hi, I’m Shirley.

I’ve spent the better part of my career sitting at the intersection of two worlds that don’t always speak the same language: the structured, deadline-driven world of project management and the passionate, resource-strapped world of nonprofits. Turns out, that’s a pretty useful place to be.

I started out coordinating research projects and managing programs in the education space, which is where I learned that good intentions without a plan don’t get very far. From there I moved into senior consulting work, managing complex projects across global teams, learning how to bring order to chaos and keep things moving when everything is pulling in different directions.

But nonprofits kept calling me back.

I’ve worked alongside small organizations long enough to know that the challenges aren’t usually about effort or heart. They’re about bandwidth, clarity, and having someone in your corner who can see the whole board when you’re deep in the game. I wrote my graduate thesis on Latino nonprofit leaders in North Carolina, and that research confirmed what I’d already suspected: the people doing the most important community work are often the least supported in building the infrastructure to sustain it.

That’s what Scribble a Plan is about.

I work in English and Spanish, which means more organizations get to have this conversation in the language that feels most natural to them. And I bring the same thing to every engagement regardless of size, budget, or mission: a clear head, a practical plan, and a genuine investment in seeing it actually work.
